Preparing to go

This weekend's missions conference at my church was a great source of encouragement to me, as I prepare for Africa. Ronnie Stevens, who is a missionary we support in Hungary, spoke about what kind of person it takes to be a missionary. He said, "a plane ride never made a missionary". I need to be living the way I hope to live in Africa....now. I ought to be serving people, loving people well and faithful in prayer. I feel very inadequate to be serving these children and giving them anything that I have. However, I am glad I feel this way. It reminds me of the humbling truth that apart from the Lord, I don't have anything to give. I have to depend on Him, and not on myself.
I am anxious to see how the Lord continues to prepare us to go and do His work in June.
