After school, we went into the village to see where our students live. They all ran out of their "homes" and were saying "Mambo, teacher". We soon had our very own little paparazzi following us around. They stayed with us for a while as we explored their village and met some of the fisherman that live there.
One of the fishermen from the village took us, along with our African co-teachers, on his boat to a nearby island and it was beautiful. We went swimming and just enjoyed the warm weather. (Honestly, I was loving the salt water which made me feel cleaner than I have felt since coming here. It didn't last too long, as we had to walk all the way from the boat home through mud puddles and knee high weeds.)
Here are some pictures from our day:
Women in the village cleaning the bowls they use at their restaurant. Not thinking I will be dining there any time soon!
This was the graveyard in the village that they use to bury the children in. Working with the little ones in the village, it really hit home. It was heartbreaking to think about.
These women are amazing! It is a really common sight to see women walking through the village, carrying bowls, food, water jugs and other things on their heads while carrying a baby in a make-shift papoose.
The view of the fisherman's village.
Three of the whitest bodies ever to grace the Indian Ocean!

The water looks beautiful. What crops do they grow there? You should stick to the veggies they grow there. At least they'd be freshish. Eat cassava that will fill you and it's just like eating potatoes. It's really great reading how you are doing. Lots of love. K. Swait
"I am so proud of what all of you are doing I asked my nephew to forward my good wishes to all".
I think you will understand when I tell you that my phone number was 24 that the Internet, email and Blogs are a mystery to me. But I do understand how important your work is there.
Hey Friend,
Another great day in the land of the littles! The water looks amazing. I would love to see you all doing the chicken dance.
Keep dancing friend!
Shari
Wow, what awesome pictures. Seeing you all doing such meaningful work is truly such a blessing. I'm thinking of you often! I would definitely have loved to have danced the Chicken dance with you and the little ones today. You have to take a video of that for me! I'm proud of you three. Ya'll are impacting lives in ways we can't back here in the US. Keep up the good work. You're in my prayers.
I love reading the blog. I was thinking of your chicken experience tonight while I was having Chick-fil-A! I will be the first to take you all to dinner when you get back in town. I am so proud of the great work you are doing! Praying for you daily,
Laura
